Congrats to 69slam ambassador Katy Spychakov for becoming the 2019 VICE WORLD CHAMPION of Windsurfing

The final day of the 2019 RS:X World Championship held in Torbole, Italy, started with bad weather but luckily ended perfectly. Lake Guarda was awesome due to its well-known beauty but also thanks to its huge amount of wind.

For the women’s category, China’s Yunxiu Lu led 1st place by far, but the real battle took place between the World and European champion, Lilian de Geus and our ambassador Katy Spychakov. Katy managed to win the Silver medal and confined De Geus to 3rd place.

Spychakov about her Silver medal, “I wasn’t too nervous before the race, I thought I would be more nervous but it was fun. I lost the youth world championship here in 2017 so this is a really good feeling for me. We have such a good group of three girls in Israel, we have been together since 1999 and we are such good friends and push each other all the way.”

Spychakov also won the U21 RS:X World Cup. Thanks to her age, she was able compete in both categories.

From now on, Lake Guarda will be associated to Katy’s first silver medal. The first of a long series, hopefully the next one will be in Tokyo for 2020 Olympic Games!
